Itinerary

Day 1: Accra Arrival

Pass By: Kotoka International Airport, Airport Rd, Accra, Ghana
A representative of Blastours will meet group for a hotel transfer. Depending on the time of arrival, we can experience a walking tour through James Town, old Accra.

Day 2: Accra - Elmina

Stop At: Kakum National Park, Cape Coast Ghana
Experience a walk across the canopy walkway of the Kakum National Park comprising of undisturbed virgin rain forest. Individuals have the option of a 1 hour walking tour through the forest trails or to experience a walking tour on the longest and highest canopy walkway in West Africa.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Cape Coast Castle, Cape Coast Ghana
Make brief stopovers at an oil palm plantation and a local factory to witness work in progress. Continue to the Cape Coast Castle (Cabo Corso) a fortress that was built by the Swedes in 1653, seized by the Danes and later conquered by the British.

Day 3: Cape Coast - Accra

Stop At: Elmina Castle, Elmina Ghana
Visit the Elmina castle, a well preserved castle for an insight into the history of Slavery
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Fort St Jago, Just Northwest of St George's Castle, Elmina Ghana
As part of the Elmina city tour, we will learn more about the colonial past experience the present lifestyle of the Fantis

Day 4: Accra

Stop At: Nungua Local Market, Accra, Ghana
visit the Fantasy Coffin makers, who make coffins to reflect a person’s affiliation. Meet the man behind this fascinating trade
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Artists Alliance Gallery, Omanye House Accra Tema Beach Road, Accra Ghana
This is a contemporary art gallery of painting and sculpture by established and up-and-coming Ghanaian artists.

Stop At: Independence Square, Accra Ghana
Also known as Black Star Square, plays a significant role in the nation's history, as it is the site where Ghana's independence from colonial rule was declared in 1957
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Center for National Culture, 28th February Rd Near Nkrumah Memorial Park & Mausoleum, Accra Ghana
Take a stroll through Ghana’s largest craft market, where one can shop for African arts & crafts and traditional clothes

Duration: 1 hour

Day 5: Accra - Lome - Ouidah

Stop At: Rue Du Grand Marche, Lome Togo
A large open-air market, also the realm of the famous “Nana Benz“
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Akodessewa Fetish Market, Lome, Togo
Visit the main voodoo market, where one can find magic remedies and local voodoo charms used by local sorcerers

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Lac Togo, Togoville Togo
Experience a boat ride to Togoville. Here, we will visit some shrines, the ancient German Cathedral and the traditional museum of the King of Togoville

Duration: 2 hours

Day 6: Ouidah - Porto Novo - Cotonou

Stop At: Great Mosque of Porto-Novo, Porto-Novo Benin
Many Afro- Brazilians settled in Porto Novo following their return to Africa after emancipation in Brazil.

We will visit the vibrant market and Ethnographic museum, and the Grand Mosque, formerly a church designed in Brazilian style, Da Silva Museum and the 300 year-old Palace of King Toffa, which retraces the history of Porto-Novo

Day 7: Cotonou - Ganvie - Lome - Accra

Stop At: Ganvie Lac Nokoue, Ganvie Benin
Experience a boat ride on the Nakoue river to the highlight of any trip to West Africa. Ganvie, the “Venice” of the Continent is a 500-year-old village on water. In ancient times people took refuge on Lake Nokoue from the attacks of the Fons and the Dahomey warriors, who were forbidden by a deep belief to fight on water.

Stop At: Temple des Pythons, Face a la Basilique, Ouidah Benin
Visit the Sacred Forest and Temple of Pythons, home to sacred snakes
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Ouidah Museum of History, Bp 33, Ouidah Benin
Visit the Portuguese Fort now houses the History Museum. The exhibits focus on the slave trade and Benin consequent cultural links with Brazil and the Caribbean
