Itinerary

Day 1: Fly to Gondar and drive to Sankaber (3250 MASL)

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Debark 1248, Ethiopia
After breakfast, drive 100km to Debark, where you registered before entering to the Semien Mountain National Park and have lunch in Debark. In the afternoon drive almost 30km to Michibi then you will start your hiking for almost 2 hours until the first camping site of Sankaber.

Day 2: Trek to Gich (3600 MASL)

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
You will follow the track eastward along a narrow ridge, with the escarpment to the north and the Koba River Valley to the south. After two hours trekking you reach Jinbar Waterfall, where a Jinbar river plunges over 80m high rock face in to Gich abyss. About 1:30 hours from the waterfall, the path divide, keep left and drop into the valley, across Jinbar River, then steeply up through Gich village to reach Gich camp.

Day 3: Trek to Chennek (3620 MASL

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
Other major peaks you pass on the way are: Imet Gogo (3925m), Sheno sefer (3962 MASL) and Enatiye (4070m). Follow the track east words steeply down and up, you pass other major peaks on the way such as Sheyno Sefer (3962 MASL) and Inatye (4070 MASL). It’s also a good area to see Lammergeyer and the rare Ethiopian wolf.

Day 4: Trek to Ambico

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
After two hours trekking from Chennek you reach Bawit Pass (4200 MASL), it is a view point to see the vast valley of the Mesheha River and its tributaries and you get your first sighting of Ras Dejen then the path drops steeply down passing through the village of Chero Leba to reach Mesheha River, across the river the path steeply up through Ambico village to reach camp site.

Day 5: Trek to Ras Dejen summit (4533 MASL)

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
The highest peak in the country the 4th highest peak in Africa, and back to Ambico From Ambico continue up the valley to reach the small village of Mizma (3500 MASL) then follow the path to east wards and head towards Ras Dejen rock west face, visible at the head of the valley, about 4 hours trek from Ambico, you pass through a gap in an old stone wall, then swing left up a broad ridge to enter a wide semicircular corrie for almost an hour and half till the base of the summit then 15minuts scrambling to the peak. And return the same path to Ambico.

Day 6: Trek Ambico to Chennek

Stop At: Simien Mountains National Park, Ethiopia
Trek 6–8 hours back to Chennek. En-route you may see the Ethiopian Wolf. Overnight Camp
Duration: 8 hours

Day 7: Drive back to Gondar

Stop At: Debre Berhan Selassie Church, Gondar, Ethiopia, Gonder Ethiopia
En-route visit Felasha or Black Jew village. In the afternoon visit the castles of Gondar and Debre Berhan Selassie Church.
Duration: 5 hours

Day 8: Fly back to Addis Ababa

Stop At: Ethnological Museum, Algeria St Piazza Haile, Addis Ababa Ethiopia
Transfer to the airport and fly back to Addis Ababa. In the afternoon visit the National Museum, it is famous for its collections of numerous priceless antiques and archeological findings, the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the last resting place of Emperor Haile Selassie I and the Ethnological Museum. In the evening you will have a traditional farewell dinner in the traditional restaurant. Overnight Caravan hotel or Departure
