Itinerary

Day 1: From Addis-Arbaminchi

Stop At: Chamo Lake, Arba Minch Ethiopia
We drive directly to Arbamich which is 435kms away from Addis Ababa. Late in the afternoon, we will visit the crocodile market in Lake Chamo by boat. And we will stay the night in Haile Resort Arbaminch, where you can have the best topographic view of the two takes (Lake Abaya on the left and Lake Chamo on the right) only separated by a big mountain commonly known as God’s Bridge.

Day 2: Arbaminch-Turmi

Stop At: Dimeka Market, Omo, Ethiopia
Wake up early in the morning at 7:30, eat breakfast and leave to konso which is 95kms away from Arbaminch. In Konso you will visit the village called sergio which is 20kms from konso town through the way to Jinka and visit the famous soil towers named new York since they look like (the new York towers in America), tourists named it, this feature is created by floods in the past. Then drive directly to Woito 71kms away (eat lunch) and drive to Turmi 128kms from Wiyto, where the famous Hammer tribe live by and we will visit one Tsamai tribe village on our way.

Day 3: Turmi-Omorate

Stop At: Dasenech Village, Omorate Dasenech, Turmi 1000 Ethiopia
Wake up early in the morning have breakfast and leave to the Dassanech tribe. Dassanech (People from the Delta) inhabit the southernmost region of the valley, where the Omo River Delta enters Lake Turkana and the town is known as Omorate which is 70kms away from Turmi. It is the Boarder of Ethiopia to Kenya we will have a trip to their village by crossing the Omo River by a traditional Boat, spend like 1 ½ hr to 2 hrs and get back to Turmi, and spend the rest of the day by relaxing until 4:00. In the afternoon, we will go and visit nearby Hammer tribe villages, especially Bogira village which is 9kms away from town. Spend time with the villagers with a special ceremony and then come back to the Lodge.

Day 4: Turmi-Karo-Jinka

Stop At: Omo National Park and River, Jinka 1000 Ethiopia
Early in the morning we drive to the Karo tribes who also live in nearby the shores of the Omo River north of Omorate, and it is 60kms away from Turmi. They are a Nilotic ethnic group in Ethiopia famous for their body paintings and they are one of the smallest tribes in the Lower Omo valley. After the visit, we going to drive to Jinka town which is 128kms away from Tirmi and the zonal town of the Omo valley region and it will take 3 ½ hr and we going to have a picnic lunch on one of the views point before we get to Jinka.

Day 5: Jinka-Mursi

Stop At: Mago National Park, 782km south of Addis on East bank of the Omo River, 4200 Ethiopia
This day, we will drive to the Mursi tribes which is 50kms away from Jinka. Through the Mago national park and the Mursi tribes are known as the most amazing tribes of all, best known for the lip plates worn by the women. The custom is that when a Mursi woman reaches the age of about 20, a slit is cut beneath her lower lip, creating a small hole between the lip and the tissue below. Over the next year, this gap is progressively stretched, forming a ‘lip loop’ large enough for a small circular clay plate, indented like a pulley, to be inserted between the lip and the mouth. We will have 1 to 2hrs visit in their village, and we going to drive around Mago National Park and we may see some wildlife and we going to have lunch in the park.

Day 6: Jinka-Dorze

Stop At: Dorze Village, Arba Minch Ethiopia

Wake up early in the morning and visit the Ari tribe village where you can see traditional Alcohol brewing and a black smith, and it is just in nearby the town, after visiting the village we will finally go to Jinka Museum where you can revise the trips you have been through, by reading written facts and the materials they use in addition to that you can watch some documentary movies of the feasts and rituals of some of the tribes, where it is really difficult to be in the season when it actually happens.
After visiting the museum, we will directly drive to Arbaminch which 250kms away from Jinka.

Day 7: Arbaminch-Hawassa

Stop At: Hippo watching on Lake Awassa, Awassa, Awasa Ethiopia
After breakfast, we drive to Dorze village which is high up in the Guge Mountains northwest of ArbaMinch. Dorze people are famous for their high and elephant style homes and fine cotton weaving. The drive up on the hill, which affords some spectacular views over Arba Minch and the Rift Valley lakes. After the visit, we drive directly to Awassa which is a beautiful city surrounded by Lakes, is a capital city of Southern region. We will walk in the city and around the lake which is very interesting and you will have relaxing time. It’s the most famous place in the country to eat fish.

Day 8: Hawssa-Addis Abeba

Stop At: Tiya World Heritage Site, Tiya Ethiopia
Wake up early in the morning and drive back to Addis, and on our way we will visit the historical place of Tiya where you can see the 12th century grave tombs and the rock church of Adadi Mariam then drive to Addis. In Addis, you will have time for shopping. Before your flight back home you will have a farewell dinner at one of the traditional restaurant and coffee at the best hotel in Ethiopia.
