About this activity
Full of a thousand culinary secrets, a walk through the by-lanes of Agra is likely to lead you to countless food joints. The aromas of good food in each and every corner are irresistible. This 3-hour walking tour consists of sampling 5-6 different Indian food dishes from different specialty eateries, spread out all over the city.
This evening or morning tour allows you to hop-in and hop-out of traditional roadside eateries, enabling you to try the best items each menu has to offer. Once you are picked up from your hotel, your guide will take you to the famous chaat gali of Agra, which offers enormous variety of chaats. The street is home to an array of chaat (savory snacks) vendors that offers about 10-15 different varieties of chaat. Amongst the most famous ones are Pani puri (a round, hollow puri, fried crisp and filled with a mixture of flavored water (pani), tamarind chutney, chili, chaat masala, potato, onion and chickpeas), aloo chaat, aloo tikki, pav bhaji, dahi papdi chaat, dahi gunjiya, bhel puri etc. Once you are done, you can head off to another very famous shop, where you will have an option of tasting scrumptious Indian Burger - Vada Pav. Vada Pav is a vegetarian fast food dish native to the Indian state of Maharashtra, consisting of a potato fritter in a bread bun.
Later, head off to taste about 15 different varieties of Indian traditional sweets. Here, taste a variant of Kachori, served with spicy potato curry and curd (yoghurt) along with Jalebi (an Indian sweet made of a coil of batter fried and steeped in syrup). Another famous delicacy offered is Samosas. Samosas are made up of white flour and stuffed potatoes and then deep-fried to get that famous mouth-watering taste. The variety in cuisine ranges from tasty Mughlai food to international and oriental cuisine with a perfect blend of vegetarian and non-vegetarian.
Your final stop is a Panchhi Petha shop. The most famous item to eat in Agra is Petha- a sweet made of white pumpkin, native to Agra. You can ask for a variety of pethas just in case you love getting a sugar high!
At the end of the tour, you will be dropped back off to your hotel in Agra.
