Stop At: Taj Mahal, Agra 282001 India

The foundation for this magnanimous monument was laid in the year 1632 under the orders of Shah Jahan in the fond memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal after her sudden demise. Today it stands as the epitome of love. It is often considered as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich heritage.
Exhibiting Persian and Mughal designs of architecture, this monument is the outcome of the labour of about 20,000 workers. It took nearly 32 years to complete the monument in its entirety. In 1983, it was named the UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts nearly millions of people yearly.
The tomb which is the central figure of the Taj area is where the body of Mumtaz Mhal is laid to rest. Just beside her body, the remains of Shah Jahan are laid down. However, he had to face a lot of criticism and was subject to consequences. There were prophecies against him and the whole idea of the Taj Mahal in general.
The Taj is considered one of the most astonishing and lavish man-made monument in the history of human existence because of its huge stature and the perfection that has gone into getting the final outcome. One can witness scriptures carved on the walls of the monument in Urdu. It has minimalistic things carved meticulously on all the pillars.
The path that leads to the tomb is surrounded with pillars and gardens. The garden is another beautiful sight to the eyes. It is called Charbagh

Stop At: Mehtab Bagh, Nagla Devjit Etmadpur, Agra India

Located in Agra, on the banks of River Yamuna and the north of the splendid Taj Mahal, it is the 11th of the Mughal gardens. It was built way back in 1530 by the Mughal king Babur.
The Mehtab Bagh is often exposed to floods and hence had almost lost all its glory and beauty. It wasn’t until recently after its restoration by the ASI.
Of the original four sandstone towers at the Mehtab Bagh, which marked the corners, only the southeast one stands strong. A large octagonal pond is situated in the southern part and it reflects the image of the gigantic Mausoleum. There also stands a small central tank on the eastern side. The foundations of the two structures in the north and south of the huge pond, were probably garden pavilions. It is said that from the northern structure a stepped waterfall must have probably fed the pool. There in a central square pool in the northern garden. There are few other structures which are not in good shape of the original plan but include nurseries owned by private parties among the other attractions.
In 1994, an exaction unearthed a few fountains and a huge garden
