The tour starts with a drive to the Agra Bear Rescue Facility, which is the world’s largest Sloth Bear Rescue Facility. Established in the year 1999 in association with the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, the facility center currently houses around 200 sloth bears, also called dancing bears as well as other wildlife species, housed in large forested enclosures with ponds and shady trees.
Enjoy behind the scene conservation education tour and get to know about what a day is like at the center. Learn a thing or two about how rescued bears undergo a 90-day quarantine period during which they are given a complete health checkup and treated for any parasites, wounds or diseases. Moreover, the bears are also vaccinated against Leptospirosis, Rabies, and infectious canine hepatitis. After the quarantine period, the bears are provided access to large socialization enclosures, where the Wildlife SOS veterinary & staff monitors the personality & behavior of each of the mammal.
Also, get to see the bears within the enclosures and see them interact with each other. After studying the personality of the bear, he/she is matched to a group and then moved to a larger free-range area.
Moreover, the sanctuary also features a special cub weaning area, where baby bears rescued from poachers are fostered under special care by the staff members. Learn about the rehabilitation facility and get to interact with the staff members who take care of the bears.
After the tour ends, you will be driven back to the hotel.
