Full-day tour in Gordes and Roussillon in the Luberon from Aix en Provence

With this full-day tour of Luberon, you will explore the picturesque villages of Luberon: Roussillon and Gordes and have a taste of the French Provence.

You'll meet your guide at 9.00am at the Tourist Office of Aix-en-Provence, and will go in direction of Roussillon to discover the ochre trail with its vivid colors. Sculpted by storms, this former ochre deposit combines men and nature work. Cliffs, earth pillars, ochre-colored sand hillocks, after being dug out by shovels and picks, are henceforth shaped by the winds and rain.

Then you will reach Gordes, through a dramatic, narrow and winding road. One of the most beautiful villages in France, Gordes offers old houses with terracotta roofs, an impressive castle, and breathtaking views on the surrounding landscape.

The next visit will be the Sénanque Abbey, still an active Cistercian monastery, since the mid-12th century, which offers the typical postcard of Provence. The abbey is surrounded by lavender fields, which is harvested by the monks themselves to produce mainly essential oils. You will then stop at a local domain for a guided tour and wine tasting.

You will have lunch in a typical restaurant with local wines.

Then in Aix en Provence you will stop at Confiserie du Roi René for a tasting. The use of delicious and local products is the key of their recipes; almond, honey, thyme, lavender, candied fruit...Try their delicious nougats and calissons (a candy made from a paste of ground almonds, candied melon and orange peel on a thin layer of wafer, all covered with bright royal icing).

You will back at 6.00pm at the Tourist Office of Aix-en-Provence.
