About this activity
Itinerary
fter hotel pick-ups we head in the valley of Ólafsfjörður to the Ceramic Studio owned by Hófý. She is the artist of the year 2018 in the area and you will have the opportunity to learn from her. She will show us around her studio, give us clay to work with and instruct us on how to form desirable art pieces out of the clay. The pottery spinning wheel is all time favorite, which you will be able to try out. Your art pieces are then put into a special oven for firing and sent to you.
After our clay course, we head to a local restaurant to have lunch made by a local chef. It is a typical Icelandic modern cooking: homemade comfy food.
Finishing lunch, our next visit is to foreign artists that stay at art residence in town Ólafsfjörður. They will show us what they are working on for different projects/events/festivals in the area, and what their experience has been in Iceland. The artists come from all over the world and work in many different areas of arts (for example painting, dancing, photography, sounds, lights, touch etc.) You will have the opportunity to try out their methods. After the visit, we head back to your accommodations.
