Itinerary
We meet in the deserted fjord Héðinsfjörður. Which is the northernmost fjord on the Troll Peninsula area. From the parking area, we walk alongside the lake Héðinsfjarðarvatn before turning uphill over a pass that was used by people that lived in Héðinsfjörður many years ago, to get supplies, etc.
Before the tunnels were opened in 2010, Héðinsfjörður was only passable by walking or going by horses over mountain trails like this one, or by boats. This specific pass Hestskarð means Horse Trail in English.
We will have some Icelandic refreshments (Skyr, flatbread, orange juice) before heading down a valley to fjord Siglufjörður. From there we will be picked up and driven to our cars in Héðinsfjörður.
