Discovery of the history and wines of Cascina Cà Rossa

About this activity

Cascina Cà Rossa is located in Canale, in the heart of Roero, once renowned for its fruit farming and nowadays one of the most important wine-making regions in Piedmont. Starting from 1992, the cellar was renovated and expanded; modern and thermal-controlled tanks in stainless steel were placed next to one another; French barriques and large Slavonian oak barrels were installed to accompany Nebbiolo's delicate notes in its aging process. Other vineyards were acquired over the years, which led to an area spanning 16 hectares and almost 100 thousand bottles produced under eight labels: Roero Arneis Merica DOCG, Vino Rosato Rosé, Barbera d'Alba DOC Ansem, Barbera d'Alba DOC Mulassa, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC Funsu, Roero DOCG Valmaggiore Audinaggio, Roero Riserva DOCG Mompissano, partially fermented Birbet Mosto. The winery is organic certified since 2012 - yet another major goal achieved by Cascina, which is still managed by Angelo along with his son Stefano.

The program comprises a detailed guided tour of the winery, from the winemaking room to the area dedicated to aging and bottling, with one of the owners or an employee. At the end of the tour you will reach the tasting room, where you will taste 4 wines: Arneis, a typical Piedmont white vine, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Roero, produced with Nebbiolo grapes and aged in wood.
