About this activity

An experienced truffle hunter with his trained dogs will introduce you to the magic and mystery of the world of truffles.
You will learn all about black and white truffles and then you will look for them in the wood.

Your truffle hunting will take place at Josetta Saffirio Wine Estate in Castelletto, a small area part of Monforte d'Alba, well-known for the Nebbiolo production (Josetta Saffirio owns 5 hectares most of which is dedicated to Nebbiolo in the Barolo cru of ‘Castelletto’, a very small and high-quality production).

After the walk in the wood, the staff from Josetta Winery will show you the winery starting from the vineyards and the wine cellar, across the aging barrels and barrique room you will reach the tasting room for a "Langhe merenda" and wine tasting.

You will taste five incredible wines paired with local and authentic cheese and cold cuts.

Wines produced by Josetta Saffirio represents the terroir, Langhe Rossese Bianco, an old grape variety rediscovery some year ago, Barbera, Nebbiolo d'Alba Spumante Rosè champenoise method and of course they have Barolo DOCG and Barolo Riserva DOCG.

More info

Respect to the land is a concrete action here, they use only the products allowed in organic agriculture to fight against the diseases.
The arrangement of the vineyard is ‘Giropoggio’ and they do not work deep soil before planting the plants, and the vineyards are total grassing of the row in order to reduce the erosion of surface waters. Also, for ten years Family Saffirio use light tractors to avoid impact on the soil and this allows the soil to breathe and they see only organic fertilizers.

The cellar was designed to be integrated into the rural landscape and to reduce the heat exchange with the outside. The isolation was done using natural cork.
