Dolphins and Caves Albufeira Marina

2h30
About this activity
Departing from Albufeira Marina, this discovery of the Algarve coast travels 18 km to the Alfanzina Lighthouse. On this route you will be dazzled by several beaches, rock formations and discover marine caves, with a special highlight on the famous Benagil cave.During this journey you will have the opportunity to take a dip if sea conditions allow so.After discovering the coast, get ready to feel the sea breeze as the boats pull away from the coast on a quest to find dolphins. We invite you to stay aware and help us search for our friends. Our goal regarding the watching is that the dolphins come to see you, always respecting the animals and all the norms related to the observation of cetaceans. You will enjoy a scenic view of the coast and have the opportunity to contemplate wildlife, such as various species of birds, flying fish and maybe even sharks. The adventure lasts 2h30, in semi-rigid fast boats that take up to 12 passengers for 2 crew members, these being a marine biologist and a “captain” who knows this part of the coast like the palm of his hand. With just 12 passengers per boat the crew will have the opportunity to provide you a personalized and educational sea trip. Before boarding there will be a safety briefing and we will help you put your comfortable lifejackets on. You have at your disposal waterproof windbreakers for the cooler days and a bottle of water. Note: Although we are a company with many years of experience, we can never be absolutely certain of the sighting of cetaceans like dolphins and porpoises. But the probability is high.

We went June 29 2:30- saw no dolphins. I thought the caves were worth the cost and looked at the dolphins as a bonus. We got to the marina early and I stopped in the booking office to confirm we had the right place before we had some lunch. The girl I spoke to said we would be stopping for a dip in the ocean and I recalled I read that on my booking paperwork. I pulled out the paperwork I had and read that we were suppose to stop for a dip. So 3 of the 4 of of our party ran to a little shop in the marina and bought swim suits (100€) total. None of us even like the suits we bought. Then the boat never stopped for the dip! At that point we had already taken off the tags and put them on so we could not return them. I am really disappointed. The caves are awesome and the boat is small enough to go into some of them. I wish it was longer. The boat holds 11 passengers and one guide, not counting the driver. You straddle the seats and there is no seat belt. I would not recommend this to someone who has small children, is pregnant or has difficulty hanging on. The boat goes really fast and you HAVE to hold on. Do not bring a hat. Bring sun glasses. They provide jackets, which is nice because we got wet.
