About this activity
Your adventure begins when we pick you up from your accommodation and head south from Alice Springs along the Stuart Highway to Kings Canyon and when possible via the red, mystic and dusty Giles Road. We'll leave Alice Springs at 5 am and stop on the way for a break and a light breakfast. We will return approximately around 7-7.30 to Alice Springs. If you would prefer to be dropped off at Kings Canyon Resort or Kings Creek station we are able to accommodate that too, but please contact us prior to finalise the booking to arrange that.
Our tour will provide you with a journey of a lifetime, including 1-hour Aboriginal cultural experience and the iconic hike with spectacular views down the 270m sandstone chasm to the floor of Kings Canyon.
Highlights on Tour
-Kings Canyon – Watarrka National Park
Our Kings Canyon rim walk begins with 500 steps (and yes this is the most difficult part of the walk) but there is amazing scenery along the way and once this is accomplished you will be able to take in the views and your first look across Kings Canyon and the sandstone domes known as the Lost City. From the Lost City we will wander through the domes to Cotterill’s Lookout, named after one of the first tour operators to this area. Our guide will then take you down into the Garden of Eden, where local and exotic plants, trees and ferns surround a natural spring waterhole. We will take approximately four hours to complete this walk but there will be plenty of rest stops along the way with unforgettable photos opportunities.
-Gourmet Picnic Lunch
It is now time to put your feet up, relax and enjoy the landscape while enjoying lunch prepared by your guide.
-Aboriginal Cultural Tour
Immerse yourself in our 1-hour Aboriginal cultural tour. Experience spear and boomerang displays, learn about bush tucker and medicine, learn our language and purchase local arts and crafts.
