About this activity
An amazing landscape in the interior of the Amalfitan coast. The sweep of the forest, creaking of waterfalls and the smell of lemons characterize the Ferriere Valley. Here the time goes by so slowly, people abandon themselves to the slow-running river. The route starts in Amalfi in the direction of Pantone, a small district of Scala, here there are remains of the Saint Eustachio church and in its alleys, you can admire beautiful cultivations of citrus fruits and vineyards. All along the shores of the Canneto rivers nature is unspoiled and preserve pre-glacial fossils and endemic species such as the fern Woodwardia radicans and the Salamandrina interdigitate. The path is surrounded by Lattari Mounts and it is possible to admire the summit of the highest peaks (Campanaro Mount, Rotondo Mount, Caivano Mount and Cervignano Mount). Amalfi has a glorious past as the Maritime Republic, few people know that thanks to this valley the city attracted splendor and richness. In fact, for its water sources in the valley were built several ironwork and paper mills. Nowadays walking down the valley it is possible to visit some of them but the paper mills best preserved are in the center of Amalfi city. National Geographic has considered the valley as biodiversity reserve and one of the most beautiful paths in the world.
