The Burning Fields – Cuma Miseno Baia and Pozzuoli

Meet the wonders of an area where history and geology melt together. On this tour, you’ll explore one of the richest archaeological areas in the world. This is the so-called Phlegrean (Burning) Fields, where all possible miracles of art, history, architecture, and nature meet together. On one single tour, you’ll be shown around the following locations. First, mysterious Cuma with the ruins of Apollo’s Temple in Acropolis and the Cave of the legendary prophetess Sybil. Then you’ll come to Baia to see a Castle built by Aragonese dynasty and the archaeological park of Baia with still spectacular ruins of Roman Baths (closed on Monday). In Pozzuoli, which is the area of the strongest volcanic activity, you’ll see either Flavian Amphiteather or the crater of an active volcano Solfatara (closed on Tuesday). At the ancient Roman port-city Miseno, you’ll see a huge cavern for storing water called Piscina Mirabilis (closed on Monday). You’ll also glimpse volcanic Lakes D’Averno, Fusaro and Miseno.
