About this activity
The 'Must See Holy Sites of Jordan' combining sites of the Old and the New Testament is a perfect tour to capture the most important sites in the Kingdom and an experience that exceeds all expectations. Prior to your arrival to Jordan, your Jordan representative must have your flight details to prepare for your flight arrival, departure, and tour. The tour will either start, day 1 and end day 3, or start day 2 and end day 4, determined by your flight arrival and departure to Amman. Once you land to Queen Alia Airport and complete passport control and baggage pick up, your fdriver will be waiting at the arrival area, after baggage claim, with your name on a sign to take you to either your hotel in Amman or start your Mosaic Tour. Your 4 star hotel located in the capital will be your focal point to start and end your Holy Papal Tour with a breakfast served from days 2 to 4 and an evening dinner on days 1 to 3. Our Tour is flexible and the day tours can be interchangeable.

Day 1: Um Rasas, Mukawir, Madaba, Mt. Nebo. Depart at 9am Start the tour at Umm Ar-Rasas the Church of Saint Stephen and a World Heritage Site, with its preserved mosaic floor, the largest of its kind in Jordan. Travel East to Mukawir or Machaerus, the palace/fort of Herod. It was here, the son of Herod, imprisoned and beheaded John the Baptist after Salome’s dance, you will then be transferred to the City of Mosaic Between the 4th and 7th centuries AD, Madaba produced one of the world’s finest collections of Byzantine mosaics in the Orthodox Church of St. George, a 6th century AD mosaic map of Jerusalem. Last stop is Mount Nebo which overlooks the Dead Sea and the Jordan River Valley where Moses viewed the Holy Land of Canaan that he would never enter. You will then end the tour back to Amman.

Day 2: Bethany Beyond the Jordan, Lots Cave and the Dead Sea. Depart at 9am, your day starts at the Bethany Beyond the Jordan-the Baptism Site where John the Baptist lived, preached, and baptized. The site has long been known from the Bible and from the Byzantine and Medieval texts. The Dead Sea is one of the most dramatic places on earth, the infamous Sodom and Gomorrah were the subjects of some enduring Old Testament stories, including that of Lot, whose wife was turned into a pillar of salt for disobeying God’s will. Lot and his two daughters survived and fled to a cave near the small town of Zoar, known as Lots Cave. Your tour will end at the Dead Sea Hotel to enjoy the sea and lunch, return to Amman at dusk.

Day 3: Depart at 7:30am to Petra, mentioned in the Bible’s Old Testament under several possible names, including Sela and Joktheel. Aaron, the brother of Moses and Miriam, died in Jordan and was buried in Petra at Mount Hor, now Mount Aaron, built on the summit of the mountain. Petra is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and is widely visited, return to Amman.
