Meet a driver at your Amman hotel for 7am departure to Petra, a 152-mile (245-km) trip from Amman in a comfortable, private car.

Upon arrival at Petra, walk thru the obelisk going up the mountain for a wonderful view down to the Treasury, then continue up to the High Place of Sacrifice. Descend through Wadi Farasa to the Lion Fountain, the Garden Triclinium, and the Roman Soldiers' Tomb.

Enjoy the varied colors and caves on a walk to the Qasr el Bint, also called the Temple of Dushares, with the largest facade in Petra. In the afternoon, you'll have free time to keep exploring on your own, then return to the modern world through the "siq," a winding path that stretches for .75 miles (1.2 km.).
