Stop At: Al Balad – Downtown Amman, Amman Jordan
The Balad is the oldest section of the city which is made up of a myriad of markets. The area's long history leaves a large number of historical sites, such as the Amman Citadel, the Roman Theatre, and the Roman Nymphaeum which we will pass by during the tour
Duration: 1 hour
Pass By: Jabal Al Lweibdeh, Amman Jordan
Jabal Al Luweibdeh (L'weibdeh or weibdeh) one of Amman’s oldest districts – which is transforming into the hip place to be, home to some of Amman’s startups, new restaurants and artsy crowd!
Stop At: The Duke's Diwan, 12 King Faisal Street, Amman Jordan
This historic townhouse, built in 1924, has served as a post office (Amman's first), the Ministry of Finance and a hotel. Today, it has been restored with period furnishings by a prominent Jordanian businessman, who is also the duke of the village of Mukhaybeh. The collection of old photos of Amman provide an interesting glimpse of a bygone age. It's all quite underplayed, but rather charming nonetheless.
Duration: 20 minutes
Stop At: Abu Darwish Mosque, Abu Darwish St. Jabal Ashrafieh, Amman Jordan
Abu Derwish Mosque is one of the beautiful mosques of Amman, Jordan. It was built in 1961 on top of one of Amman’s seven hills, Jebel al-Ashrafiyeh. Its alternating black and white stones draw on traditional Levantine architecture. The mosque is clearly visible from other hills around Amman. It can accommodate more than 7000 worshipers.
Duration: 40 minutes
Stop At: Rainbow Street, Rainbow St, Amman Jordan
This street in Jebel Amman is a destination in itself. Ammanis come here every evening to promenade and to visit the many great cafes and restaurants – to see and be seen. There are plenty of shops if you come in the daytime (the area is good for souvenirs), but either way it's best explored by foot as the narrow one-way street easily clogs with traffic any time of day or night.
