Day 01: Arrive Amritsar
Our driver will pick you up from the Amritsar airport or railway station and transfer safely to your hotel (own arrangement). Spend your leisure time in the hotel. The sightseeing will begin with the afternoon visit to Wagah Border.
At 3 pm you will be picked up by our driver and directed to the Wagah Border in an air-conditioned car. The border is shared by India and Pakistan lying 30 kms away from the Amritsar city. It is a military exercise conducted on daily basis in the Wagah-Attari border. The Indian Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers shake hands symbolizing healthy relations. It is a 45 mins long event characterized with parade and dancelike maneuvers. You will be provided the seat in VIP gallery in one of the front rows (applicable for foreign nationals only). After the ceremony gets over, you will be dropped back to the hotel.
Get ready for an eventful evening attending the book closing ritual Sukhasan in the Golden Temple. You will be picked up at 9 pm and taken to the Golden temple. The ceremony marks the closing of Sikh scripture Guru Grantha Sahib after which it is taken to ‘Akal Takht’ for night in the palanquin. Whole temple glows with the lighting and echoes with Kirtans (Sikh prayer). Take the holy offering Karha Prasad and return to the hotel after the event gets over.
Day 02: Amritsar City Tour & Evening Palki Ceremony
In the morning, you will be picked up by the driver to take you to the holy Golden Temple. The Temple is of supreme importance to Sikhs established by fourth Sikh Guru Guru Ram Das in 1577. It is adorned with beautiful work of gold-leaf in its upper part and gold foil combined with precious stones in ceiling of the sanctum. The huge temple is surrounded by holy water pool ‘Amrit Sarovar’ meaning Pool of Nectar. Pay homage to the sacred Guru Grantha Sahib placed in the sanctum and exit the temple.
Move to next attraction ‘Jallianwala Bagh’ located at a short distance from the temple. Tour the historical monument and know about its past from our expert guide. Exit the site, and head towards the bustling local market Hall Bazaar 1 km away from it. The market is famous for handicrafts, ornaments, books, electrical appliances, etc.
You will be then transferred to the airport to continue your onward journey.
