Day 1: Pickup from Amritsar airport / station

The Harmandir Sahib, famous in the world as the Golden Temple, is Sikhism’s holiest shrine, visited by millions of pilgrims and tourists from all over the world.

The temple's architecture is beautiful beyond imagination and the serene sarovar that surrounds the temple, the holy lake that is believed to consist of Amrit or holy water, adds to the glory of the temple complex. Harmandir Sahib also houses the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy text of Sikhism.

Day 2: Amritsar local sightseeing

Jallianwala Bagh is a public garden in Amritsar famous for one of the most tragic yet landmark events in the history of India. This is where the Amritsar Massacre of 1919 took place.

The British Army soldiers upon receiving orders from General Dyer opened fire on a huge, unarmed gathering of men, women and children on April 13, 1919.

There is a well inside Jallianwala Bagh into which many people including children jumped to save themselves from the firing. The garden also houses a memorial built in honour of the massacre victims. The portion of the wall with bullet marks along with the well is preserved as a memorial.

Stop At: Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, Lawrence Road, Amritsar India
Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum was the erstwhile summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the first ruler of the Sikh Empire. The museum displays articles related to Maharaja Ranjit Singh, old paintings, manuscripts and coins, which are centuries old. The museum makes for a fascinating visit especially for those interested in history.

Gobindgarh Fort is a historic fort located in the center of the city of Amritsar in the Indian state of Punjab. The Fort was earlier occupied by the army but is now open to the public from 10 February 2017.Today the fort is being developed as a unique live museum, as a repository of Punjab’s history.

Day 3: Amritsar old city walk and half day village tour

Day 4: Visit to Wagah Border

The world's first Partition Museum is now open at the historic Town Hall building in Amritsar. The Partition of India was one of the most defining events in the nation's history. It was perhaps the largest migration in human history, with some 18 million affected. The Museum is part of the newly inaugurated Heritage Street at Amritsar, which starts at the Golden Temple and ends at the Town Hall.

Stop At: Attari-Wagah Border Attari, Amritsar 143001 India
Located at a distance of 22 km from Lahore and 28 km from Amritsar, Wagah Border marks the boundaries between Indian and Pakistani borders. It runs along the Grand Trunk Road between Amritsar in Punjab, India, and Punjab in Lahore, Pakistan. People from all over the country visit this place to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremony that is held every day before sunset. This ceremony includes the closing of the international gates and lowering the flags of both countries. It is a spectacle to be witnessed and is an occasion where the heart of every Indian is filled with pride and enthusiasm. The flag ceremony has been conducted by the Indian Border Security Force and Pakistan Rangers since 1959.

Every evening, just before the sunset, the soldiers from the Indian and Pakistan military meet at this border post to engage in a 30-minute display of military camaraderie and showmanship. Officially, the purpose of the ceremony is to formally close the border for the night and lower the national flag. However, it is an entertainment ceremony and a display of national pride for the thousands of people who come here every day.
