Private 8 day memorial tour: Follow Anne Frank from Amsterdam to Auschwitz

Itinerary

Day 1: Amsterdam

Stop At: Anne Frank House, Prinsengracht 263-267 Museum entrance Westermarkt 20, 1016 GV Amsterdam The Netherlands
We will visit the Anne Frank House, and also the neighbourhood where she grew up in Amsterdam and where many stories will be told
Duration: 5 hours

Stop At: Amsterdam Museum, Kalverstraat 92, 1012 PH Amsterdam The Netherlands
We will do an extensive tour of Amsterdam, related to WW2 places and events, such as the German District and of course the Jewish Quarter, including the Holocaust museum and the Synagogue
Duration: 4 hours

Accommodation included: 1 night stay in a 3 star hotel in Amsterdam. This can be the hotel you stayed already, and will be arranged with you

Day 2: Westerbork and Bergen Belsen

Stop At: Kamp Westerbork, Oosthalen 8 9414 TG Hooghalen, 9414 TG Hooghalen The Netherlands
We will first visit Camp Westerbork on the border with Germany. This was a transit where all Jews from the Netherlands, including the Frank family, where taken and from where they were put on transport to the East.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Gedenkstatte Bergen-Belsen, Stiftung Niedersachsische Gedenkstatten Lohheide, 29303 Bergen, Lower Saxony Germany
There is not much left of this camp where people were kept under the most horrendous circumstances. Anne and Margot Frank died here, among the thousands of others. It is a beautiful, but haunting, site to visit, and a very impressive experience.

Day 3: Berlin

Stop At: Berliner Dom, Am Lustgarten, 10178 Berlin Germany
After a 3 hour drive we arrive in Berlin where we have plenty of time to visit the WW2 sites, such as the place of the fuhrer bunker and the SS headquarters, while also enjoying the city and its nightlife.

Day 4: Berlin to Auschwitz

Stop At: Memorial and Museum Auschwitz-Birkenau, Więźniów Oświęcimia 20, 32-603 Oświęcim, Poland
This day we will drive all the way to Auschwitz in Poland.

Day 5: Auschwitz and Krakow

Stop At: Camp Birkenau Historical Gate, Miejsce Pamięci i Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau, 32-600 Oświęcim, Poland
Today we will spend our entire time visiting the massive sites of the Auschwitz concentration camp. We will start at the main camp, with its "Arbeit Macht Frei" gate and in the afternoon visit the Birkenau gas and work camp, where the Jews, including Anne frank, arrived for selection. Most of the camps are in their original state, and visiting these places of horror is a life changing experience.

Stop At: Krakow's Rynek Glowny Central Square, Center of Old Town, Krakow Poland
We will spend the evening in the beautiful old town of Krakow
Duration: 3 hours

Day 6: Krakow to Prague

Stop At: Muzeum Krakowa, oddzial Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera, ul. Lipowa 4, Krakow 30-702 Poland
In the morning we will visit the Jewish ghetto in Krakow and the nearby factory of Oscar Schindler, made famous by the film Schindler's list. We will see some of the places used in the film, as well as many of the original sites of the ghetto.

Stop At: Prague Castle, Hradcany, Prague 11908 Czech Republic
From Krakow we will make our way to Prague where we should arrive in the early evening

Day 7: Prague to Nuremberg

Stop At: Prague Castle, Hradcany, Prague 11908 Czech Republic
There will be time in the morning to explore the stunning city of Prague on your own before we head to Nuremberg
Duration: 5 hours

Pass By: Nuremburg Trial Courthouse, Baerenschanzstr. 72, 90429 Nuremberg, Bavaria Germany
Nuremberg was the site of many Nazi rallies before the war, and of the famous Nuremberg trials after the war. After a 3 hour drive from Prague we will visit those sites

Day 8: Nuremberg - Amsterdam

Stop At: Frankfurt am Main Hauptbahnhof, Am Hauptbahnhof, 60329 Frankfurt, Hesse Germany
It is a long drive back to Amsterdam but if time allows we will stop in Frankfurt and visit the birthplace of Anne frank, ultimately completing the tour of her short but important life.
