Anchorage Ice Fishing

After a long and dark cold start to our winter, Alaskans love to get out when the days get longer and warmer. In Anchorage this means ice fishing! Anchorage boasts many lakes stocked with Rainbow Trout and Arctic Char. Come spend an afternoon on one of these spectacular lakes in Anchorage for a catch-and-release ice fishing adventure! Though it may be cold outside, you will be nice and cozy in the ice fishing hut provided by your guide! Everything you will need for your 3 hour fishing excursion will be supplied for you, including hot beverages and snacks. All you need to bring is some warm winter clothing, a camera, and a smile! Your guide will take you on a scenic tour through the city of Anchorage highlighting the fishing in the area including the William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery in Ship Creek. During the winter, see common Alaskan fish species (trout, dolly varden, arctic char and king salmon) going through their life cycle phases in an attempt in the spring to release these ocean ready fish to the rivers and lakes of Alaska.
