About this activity
Travel the back roads to the late 1800's at Crow Creek Mine, nestled in a valley on Crow Creek where you and your Salmon Berry Tours guide will dig for gold! The drive down the scenic Turnagain Arm will start this tour. Once into Girdwood, your guide will take the back roads up Crow Creek Road to Crow Creek Mine. Here you’ll have a chance to see historic buildings, miner cabins, and equipment from days gone by that was once used in the old hydraulic placer mine. Then we’ll walk through the gardens to the creek to try your hand at prospecting for gold the old-fashioned way. Your guide will teach you how Alaskans have panned for gold since the early days of the first Gold Rush! Are there serious miners aboard? Rent a sluice box and get to the gold faster!
