Talkeetna day trip from Anchorage: Back Country Rail & Raft

We'll meet up with the rafting guides and board the train for a quick ride up river. Then the guides will set up the rafts and get everyone in to float down the river. This section of the river is calm, allowing you to relax and soak up Alaska’s natural beauty in peace. Pass ferns that grow more than 8 feet (2 meters) tall, and spot wildlife like moose, eagles, the occasional bear and salmon. Pull over to one of Susitna River’s islets for lunch. Your guide opens a ‘Flag Stop Rail ’n Raft’ cooler filled with a gourmet lunch prepared by the Historic Talkeetna Roadhouse. Typical sandwich options include salmon, veggie, BLT, pulled pork and vegetarian. After lunch, drift back down the river for another 12 miles, and reach the shores of Talkeetna in the late afternoon.
