Talkeetna day trip from Anchorage: Jet Boat & Nature Walk

Your 2-hour jet tour will begin aboard an enclosed jet boat, as it whisks you into the heart of the wilderness in comfort. As you travel twenty miles of river wilderness, your Naturalist will talk about the rivers in the area, as well as information about Mt Denali. You will have opportunities to view nesting bald eagles and beavers who seem to work every hour that the long light of summer provides. Upon arriving at our adventure site, we’ll take a leisurely ¼-mile nature walk to a Dena'ina Indian Encampment. The Dena’ina have lived in these lands since time immemorial. Then it’s off to an authentic trapper’s cabin with original furnishings. Learn how early trappers in this region lived in "Bush" Alaska at the turn of the century. Your experienced guide will display furs from the local area and demonstrate trapping methods. Naturalists will also acquaint you with the wildflowers and plants that grow in abundance along the river system and you’ll learn about the edible plants that were used by the Dena’ina for cooking and medicine. Bring along your camera and comfortable walking shoes for this very special Alaskan adventure.
