Guatemalan coffee is world famous and you can not leave Antigua without taking a coffee tour. Our Coffee and Chocolate Tour takes you to San Lorenzo el Cubo to visit a local coffee business of small lots owned by women. You will meet Carmen, the owner, who will guide you in the coffee process, from tree to cup. San Lorenzo el Cubo y Niños de Guatemala School: El Porvenir: The Coffee and Chocolate Tour begins with an exciting start: a ride on the colorful and chaotic chicken bus, an experience that can not be omitted if you want to understand life Guatemalan daily After a short bus ride, you will arrive at San Lorenzo el Cubo. Strolling through the city, our guide will tell you all about life in San Lorenzo and Guatemala in general. In San Lorenzo el Cubo, the elementary school EL Porvenir de Niños de Guatemala provides education to almost 200 children who otherwise would not have been able to go to school. You can visit the school facilities, meet the students and learn more about Children of Guatemala, our programs and how is education in Guatemala. Finca de Café: In El Porvenir, you will meet Carmen, a local coffee business owner who will take you to her family's traditional Guatemalan coffee plantation, where she will learn about the plantation, the coffee production process and its history in Guatemala. After touring the coffee fields, you will learn how to clean, toast, grind and prepare coffee at Carmen's house. While enjoying a delicious cup of coffee, Carmen will tell you more about her history and her daily life in Guatemala. Traditional Guatemalan handmade chocolate: At Carmen's house, you will also learn how to make traditional Guatemalan chocolate, a popular drink with a rich history. This is the second product that is produced and sold by Carmen's family. She will explain and demonstrate the production process while enjoying a cup. If you wish, you can buy homemade coffee and chocolate from Carmen to support her family business.
