Stop At: Petra - Wadi Musa 77110 Jordan
At 9:00 am ,approximately, the group bus will pick you up from your hotel to take you Petra in an air conditioned vehicle. At the way, stop for a short panoramic view of Wadi Rum , take pictures and view the amazing desert. Continue on driving to Petra, and arrive at the visitors center to start your walking tour of Petra.
Tour the Treasury, the astounding facade that gave Petra its notoriety. All of Petra was built by the Nabateans thousands of years ago. Walk on to see the ancient Roman Theater, with the tombs jutting out of the seating. There are many facades to view, that were hand carved out of the sandstone, temples, statues, cave, and more. Description says pick up at 10.30am. After booking I was told I would be picked up at 8.45am. They did not arrive until 9.45am and did not call me to say they were late or on their way. I wasted a lot of money on the phone to the local phone number for 30 minutes which was never answered. No stop in Wadi Rum. Lunch was actually after the entire tour had finished, around 5pm. Driver wanted to take the bus all the way back to the border with Israel before dropping me in the city. This is not a tour from Aqaba but a tour from Israel where they picked me up in addition. As a result the entire tour pick up and drop off revolves around the timing of the border crossing. Petra itself is great, just don't take this tour.
We were first told, by email, we would be picked up at the port. That morning told we'd have to get on the shuttle and meet the guide. Once we were at the meeting point the guide told us we were waiting for other guests. We waited an hour. When the Van arrived it was already full. The back seat didn't work and they were pulling down a jump seat for a child that would have been who we sat with. TOO CROWDED!!! This is not a 20 min. drive. We would be riding like this for over an hour. Once we were there the tour was fine but didn't include many of the things I had read about. We didn't have enough time to see the things on our own.
