About this activity
Visit: Tsitsernakaberd, Yerevan Armenia

Yerevan is one of the most ancient cities in the world, the city was found in 782 BC by king Argishti I.

Because of the pink tint of tuff, which is mostly built up in the city, Yerevan is poetically called “pink”. There are about 5,000 cultural monuments in Yerevan.

Victory Park is one of the greenest areas of the city, where the monument to Mother Armenia is located and offers a beautiful view of the city. During our tour we will visit the Institute of ancient manuscripts Matenadaran, where there are around 17,000 manuscripts.

We will also have a little walk through the Yerevan starting from Republic Square, which is known for its singing fountains. Then we will walk through Northern Avenue, visit the building of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Swan lake with a colorful monument to Arno Babajanyan, the monument of the great Aram Khachaturian, France square, where the work of Auguste Rodin is presented and of course the famous complex Cascade, which has become a center of contemporary art named after Gerard Gafeschyan.

Also we will visit Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex in Yerevan which is dedicated to the memory of the 1.5 million Armenians who perished in the first genocide of the 20th century.

Erebuni Museum, which is also included in this tour, is the place from where the history of Yerevan starts!
