Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Monastery Sevanavank, next the Holy Mother of God Church, Sevan Armenia

Lake Sevan is known for its unique feature of changing its color every once in a while. Depending on the weather it can have the most various colorings of blue and green.

It’s widely accepted among Armenians to call Sevan as “Blue-Eyed Beauty”. Even if you look at the map of Armenia, Sevan will definitely remind you of one.

According to many geologists’ theories, Lake Sevan has a volcanic origin. The lake originated after igneous lava has closed three streams of Hrazdan River. This formed a huge pool. Gradually this pool was filled with water and in this way Sevan was formed.
By the way, Lake Sevan is conditionally made of two parts: larger, which is called Major Sevan and smaller and deeper one which is called Minor Sevan.
It is assumed that Major Sevan is about 1 million years old, while Minor Sevan is only 100000 years old.
The medieval monastery of Sevan is one of the must-see places you should visit while being there. The monastery is located on the peninsula of the lake.

It will impress you with its unique architecture typical to medieval period of Armenia. Besides visiting the monastery, you can also admire the breathtaking view which opens from the peninsula.

By the way, the peninsula on which the monastery of Sevan is located once used to be an island.

Stop At: Dilijan National Park, Dilijan Armenia

Dilijan is billed as the ‘Switzerland of Armenia’, and although that may be a bit of a stretch, alpine Dilijan has undeniably attractive scenery and an extremely pleasant climate.
During Soviet times this was the peaceful retreat for cinematographers, composers, artists and writers to come and be creative; today it’s a centre for tourism with a number of fine B&Bs and hotels.

There is certainly enough natural beauty to inspire creative thought: the lush oak and hornbeam forests surround the town with snowcapped peaks in the distance. In summer the villagers herd cattle down from the mountain pastures through the town, and people gather mushrooms and mountain herbs from the rich deciduous forests. The local architecture features a lot of steep tiled roofs and wooden beams, along with some cute gingerbread-style structures. Even the local Soviet monuments have a touch of flair.

Stop At: Goshavank Monastery, Gosh Armenia

The monastery also served as an educational establishment during the Middle Agess, where were kept many books. Here were taught Armenian, Latin, Greek languages as well as music classes. The Goshavank was built in 1188 exactly on the place of an ancient monastery Getic, which was destroyed by an earthquake.

Stop At: Haghartsin Monastery, Dilijan Armenia

Haghartsin is perhaps one of the most remarkable monasteries in Armenia. The name of the monastery has an interesting story – it is believed that at the consecration of Haghartsin Monastery an eagle was flying above it as if playing around. The naming means the “eagle’s game or blessing.”
