Quimbaya Culture Tour with an Anthropologist
The tour begins at Museo del Oro Quimbaya in Armenia where is located a large collection of precolumbian artcrafts, about 390 gold objects, 104 pottery, 22 stone sculptures, carved woods, and other issues, mainly from the precolumbian Quimbaya civilization, Embera and some other amerindian tribes.
Leave the museum and travel towards Armenia down town to learn about a sculptural art that is very unique and consists of some figures built over the land to represent indigenous traditions. "Barranquismo" is like a natural museum in the street that is admired among hikers and travelers and is one of the most important artistic patrimonies of Quindío.
Other invaluable archaeological heritage visited on this tour are “Las tumbas de cancel” that were tombs built to serve as primary burials where indigenous people drop out dead bodies for a time to decompose and then crush and burn their bones to put them in a funerary urn.
Finally you will visit a cafe in Armenia for a coffee tasting experience with a professional barista.
