Athens full day tour with Acropolis and Cape Sounion

For a day devoted to an in-depth discovery of the ancient city of Athens, this tour, with its qualified guide, will take you for an all-day exploration of the best-known spots of the city.

THE TOUR

After being picked up at your hotel, the tour will start at Panathinaiko Stadium, where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896, and then you’ll drive by Zappeion and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. On the way to the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum, you’ll have the chance to see from the bus the main city sites, with a qualified guide at your side that will tell you their history and other interesting facts about the city.

Once at the Acropolis, the greatest historical site of the city, you’ll walk by the Herodion and Dionysos Theatre reaching the Acropolis Museum, where you will have a special guided tour of the museum, seeing all the statues, votive artifacts and reconstructions of parts of the old city.

Following such a full morning of exploration and discovery, you’ll have a nice lunch at a local restaurant under the slopes of the Acropolis, followed by a drive along the scenic coastal road which offers a splendid view of the Saronic Gulf, passing through some of Athens’ most beautiful suburbs. Your destination for the afternoon will be CAPE SOUNION, 45 miles (70 kilometers) from Athens; you’ll see from up close the Temple of Poseidon, perched on a rocky hilltop overlooking the sea, a view across the Aegean sea, with one of the worlds most breathtaking panoramic views.
