Athens Walking Tour: Jewish Heritage and the Ottoman Empire

Harken back to the days of the 18th and early 19th centuries when wealthy Europeans made cultural pilgrimages to France and Italy in search of art, architecture, culture and the roots of Western civilization. But those more adventurous traveled to Greece, which, under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, remained the last frontier for those in search of the exciting and unknown.

During this 3-hour historical walking tour, an experienced local guide will show off some of the most important and historic places in Athens, including Byzantine churches, stately Ottoman mansions, mosques and synagogues and an atmospheric Turkish bath house. Travel down lesser-known side streets for a peak at Athens that most tourists rarely see.
