Stop At: Stone Mountain Welcome Center, 891 Main St, Stone Mountain, GA 30083-3620

The tour is only of Stone Mountain Village.

Each tour will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. I can accommodate 10-15 guests per hours. Guests will meet at the white gazebo next to the old train station. We will start our walking tour from there. We will discuss the history of Stone Mountain Village. We will discuss the history of the Johnson House. We will visit The Village Corner German Restaurant & Bakery, one of the oldest restaurants in Stone Mountain. I will share the businesses that have come and gone in Stone Mountain Village. I will give a short background of Stone Mountain (the carving and development of the park). I will provide a historical background of Stone Mountain and its ties to the Civil Rights Movement. Stone Mountain was once a base for the Klu Klux Klan and one of the most segregated cities in Georgia. We will stop at the Liberty Bell in Stone Mountain. The Liberty Bell was placed in the City of Stone Mountain in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Speech "Let Freedom Ring from Stone Mountain, Georgia. I will also stop by the confederate graves in Stone Mountain. Lastly, I will provide some of the popular activities that happen in the City of Stone Mountain that are free to tourists such as the Farmers Market, Movie on the Green, festivals.
