AUCKLAND TO HOT WATER BEACH We head out of the City of Sails towards the Coromandel Peninsula and spend the afternoon at Cathedral Cove. We then carry on to Hot Water Beach where you can hit the beach with your shovel at low tide to dig your own hot pool in the sand.

HOT WATER BEACH TO WAITOMO Next it’s onto Waitomo where you will get the chance to visit the world famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Here is your chance to go underground and experience one of our top rated NZ activities with The Legendary Black Water Rafting Co.

WAITOMO TO ROTORUA We start the day heading off toward Rotorua, the Maori culture capital of New Zealand. Along the way we will stop at The Shires Rest where you can take a tour through the enchanting Hobbiton Movie Set. Tonight, don’t miss the chance to stay overnight at Tamaki Marae. You will experience a traditional Maori hangi (feast) and concert.

ROTORUA TO TAUPO Taupo is rightly known as the adventure capital of the North Island. Sign up here for the Tongariro Crossing and Barbary Sailing on the stunning Great Lake Taupo (New Zealand’s largest lake).

FREE DAY IN TAUPO Get up before the sun and hike one of New Zealand’s great walks. The Tongariro Crossing is an experience not to be missed! Home to Mt Doom in Tolkien’s world, the scenery is sure to blow you away on this 8 hour hike. Alternatively, enjoy a sleep-in and experience one of the many activities on offer.

TAUPO TO RIVER VALLEY Today we head south around the “great lake”. In the afternoon we travel through to River Valley, situated amongst towering cliffs and bush- clad hills. The lodge offers grade five rafting on the Rangitikei River, scenic horse riding, and stunning surroundings. Spend the evening enjoying a delicious roast dinner and relaxing by the open fire. 

RIVER VALLEY TO WELLINGTON We head away late after a morning of white water rafting or horse riding, and head through the rolling hills full of deer, cattle and sheep. We arrive into New Zealand’s capital city, Wellington, in the early evening. This city is New Zealand’s undisputed capital of culture, the arts, restaurants, fashion and nightlife.

WELLINGTON TO TAUPO The drive today has beautiful rivers and lakes as well as Lord of the Rings landscapes!

TAUPO TO AUCKLAND (VIA ROTORUA) This morning we head further north to Rotorua, renowned for its Maori heritage and thermal activity. We stop at Kiwi Encounter, where you can get up close and personal with our national icon – the Kiwi bird.Then it’s onwards through the rolling countryside to Auckland, otherwise known as the ‘City of Sails’.
