About this activity
This family river rafting tour is on the famous Kicking Horse River, located approximately 1.25 hours west of Banff. When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by your guide and given a safety orientation. Then, strap on your safety gear, hop in your raft, and start floating at a leisurely pace down the Kicking Horse River.
Marvel at the scenery, lookout for wildlife and enjoy some commentary from our friendly guides. Then, it’s onto some whitewater! Get a taste of the rapids, enjoy the splashes from class 1-3 waves and maybe even share in a rival raft water fight.
At trips end, enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch of juicy burgers, fresh salads and even dessert back at the private Hydra River Base. Back in dry clothes, check out your group rafting shots in our lodge and maybe pick up a souvenir of your day.
Transport is available for this tour from Banff for an additional charge. However, if guests select the transport, they will be waiting at our river base for the longer trip to finish before departing back to Banff. We recommend guests driver themselves to the base.

Possibly my fault but i had no idea this was 1 hour and 45mts driving distance away from my hotel. I booked this as a Banff visit - actually had I known exactly where this was I would have booked it when I was staying at Lake Louise which was much closer. Nevertheless - we got up early and drove 120km into BC for this. Excellent guide, preparation and equipment - only regret was I felt slightly unsatisfied after the event - 1 hour long ride 9which is sufficient) but only to the tail end we see some Class 3 rapids and suddenly it is over. Trip could have been more balanced interim of Class 1, 2 and 3 rapids.

When I booked this tour I thought it was a float, so when we arrived to find that it was real rapids we were a little apprehensive. However the whole adventure was fantastic and we all thought this was probably the highlight of our holiday and there were lots of highlights. All the staff were amazing, from the bus driver who was also the photographer to the raft guide. The equipment was all good quality and the lunch was delicious. I would definitely recommend this for anyone wanting an exciting and fun day. Our group consisted of my husband who is nearly 70, myself a bit younger, my 30 daughter and son-in-law. We had in our raft a 14 year old and a 16 year old and we all managed really well with the expert instructions from our fantastic guide Eric. An amazing day.

OUR guide was excellent and we had a lot of fun. The only draw back was the lack of photos. Other sites have go pros for rent but kicking horse does not.
