About this activity
Start the morning with pickup from your Banff hotel by your professional guide and driver. Begin an interpretive drive down the scenic Bow Valley Parkway, enjoying views of the rugged peaks of the Rockies while looking for signs of wildlife. Along the way, your guide will bring the stories of Canadian explorers and mountaineers to life as he describes the history and natural heritage of the mountain park environment.

Arriving at Lake Louise, spend time along the shoreline or walking up to the Fairview lookout for a walk along the old growth spruce forest to awe-inspiring views of the Victoria Glacier with plenty of time for photos. Continuing to Moraine Lake, explore the Rockpile Trail for a short but rewarding hike that leads to a stunning viewpoint.

Depart Moraine Lake and cross the valley to the Lake Louise Sightseeing Gondola, a protected wildlife habitat. From your aerial perch on the scenic chairlift you’ll have an excellent chance of seeing some of the Rockies’ iconic wildlife. And from the top of the chairlift, the views of Lake Louise, the Bow Valley, and the Valley of the Ten Peaks are simply breathtaking!

This tour is focused on learning about the natural landscape of the Rockies. If you are keen to learn about mountain building, geography or about the wildlife and ecology of the Rockies, then join a professional naturalist on this close-up look at nature in the mountains.
