About this activity
Starting at 8am with pickups at most hotels in Banff, you'll be taken to Kootenay National Park to start the Stanley Glacier Hike as your guide begins interpretation of the local and cultural history of Banff National Park. The hike begins with switchbacks, gaining elevation slowly through an old prescribed burn. Your professional guide will explain the history of prescribed burns and why they are necessary to the ecological system while pointing out the new growth and wildflowers throughout your hike. Crossing the glacial stream, you'll continue to the toe of the glacier where you will stop to enjoy your lunch while viewing the peaks of Stanley Peak, Storm Mtn., Mt. Whymper and Boom Mtn.
The hiking time will take approximately 4-5 hours roundtrip, and transfer from Banff will make for a total of 6-7 hours time depending on traffic and the pace of the group. Transportation is provided in our large air conditioned vans with pickup and drop off at your hotel and lunch is included.
Transfers are by private air conditioned van or coach, tour includes lunch made at a local bakery with a sandwich, fruit, beverage and cookie.
