Day 1: BANGKOK - KANCHANABURI - FLOATING MARKET - KANCHANABURI
Early morning 07:00hr, meet our guide at your hotel and then drive to Ratchaburi to visit the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Commerce of this gracious kind is still common in Thailand. Enjoy a long tail boat trip along canals leading to the market, where hundreds boats paddle.
Continue drive approx. 2 hours to Kanchanburi town and visit the famous “Bridge over the River Kwai” is located not far from the city center. This bridge was first built as a part of the railway between Thailand and Burma in 1942, during WW2. Visit War museum & War cemetery before taking a ride on the notorious Death Railway. Late afternoon, check in at your hotel and free day at your leisure.
Day 2: KANCHANABURI - ERAWAN NATIONAL PARK - HELL FIRE PASS
Morning, transfer to Erawan National Park to visit Erawan waterfalls. The 7 levels of this stunning waterfall drops 1,500 m. down steep-sided cliffs. It is surrounded by beautiful forest with many types of trees and orchids. There is a trail as far as the 6th level and from there you have to scramble up the cliff to reach the 7th level. The climb is well worth the effort, for the sight of tumbling water, spraying off the boulders into the deep pool below. This fall resembles the head of the Erawan Elephant-the 3-headed elephant from Hindu Mythology-which gives the whole waterfall its name.
Afternoon, visit the Hell Fire Pass Memorial Museum, this is a part of the Death Railway that was constructed during the Second World War using POW labor to cut through the mountain. Along a 4-kilometer walking trail made by the Allied prisoners visitors can envision the difficulties faced in constructing the Death Railway using simple tools. The pass is approximately 500 meters long and 26 meters deep. In 1943 Australian POWs employing hand drills, picks and shovels, baskets and dynamite completed it within six weeks. There is also a museum displaying contemporary photographs, maps, models, illustrations, etc. from the period. Late afternoon, return to your resort and relax at leisure.
Day 3: KANCHANABURI - AYUTTHAYA - BANGKOK
After breakfast, transfer approx. 2h30m to Ayutthaya, an ancient capital of Thailand, flourished for several hundred years (1350 - 1770), was sacked by the Burmese, and then taken over again by the Thais! This was the last location of the capital before the government based itself in Bangkok. At the magnificent city ruins you can see Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch with three spired pagoda as, the large Buddha image of Phra Mongkol Bophit, Wat Mahathat and Wat Chai Wattanaram. Late afternoon, drive approx. 1h to Bangkok and drop you off at your hotel in Bangkok
