Cycling back lanes and pedaling along small tree-lined canals you will arrive at an old wooden market with a historic community temple. Centuries ago trading communities formed along the canals on the outskirts of Bangkok to buy the goods coming to market from the outlying farms and orchards. The former wealth of these trading communities can be seen in the elegant architecture of the temples they left behind.

A local Thai lunch by Bang Luang Canal

Enjoy a simple tasty Thai lunch in a local eatery by the canal in the grounds of the community temple.

Traditional Thai Puppet Show

A group of Artists have taken up residence in a 200 year old traditional wooden house on the banks of Khlong Bang Luang. Inside the Artist's House is an art gallery and gift shop. But most interesting of all is the performance the Hoon Lek puppeteers. Combining traditional Khon dance makes for probably the most unique form of puppetry you may ever see. There is a performance most days, except when the puppet troupe is away. The modern inhabitants of the old wooden trading houses these days sell artwork and vintage crafts as well as fish food for your to feed the abundant fish in the canal.

Highly recommend taking this tour. Our Grasshopper tour guide Tik, was excellent. He expertly guided us through the hustle and bustle of Bangkok's streets and lanes, taking care to avoid busy traffic where possible. The flower market, Wat Kalayanamitr- a towering golden Buddha and a traditional Thai puppet show and the boat trip were a few of the must see highlights of this tour. Lunch, bikes and service you receive on this tour are of a high standard and certainly a great way to experience the sights of this vibrant city.
