Bangkok Market & Jungle by Bike
4 h
About this activity
Departing at 13.00 pm from the Oakwood Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 24, we’ll start our bike ride through the backstreets to Queen Sirikit Park and the Khlong Toei wet market. This bustling local gem is Thailand’s biggest fresh food market, with hundreds of stalls selling everything from raw meat, vegetables, fruit and seafood that have been brought here from the nearby fishing port. Prepare yourself for a real Thai market where the locals flock for the best bargain and most hard-to-find ingredients and dishes.
From the market we’ll bike towards Bang Krajao, crossing the iconic Chao Phaya river by longtail boat and cross into Samut Prakan province. If you pop open Google Maps, you’ll see what we mean by “Green Lung” as this island of green is surrounded by the urban jungle of Bangkok on the opposite bank of the Chao Phraya. You‘ll immediately get a feeling for what the provinces of Bangkok are like instead of the concrete jungle of Thailand’s big cities. For a brief moment, you’ll enjoy a break and ride around the tranquil and tropical surroundings that is one of the most popular quick getaways for Bangkokians. We’ll take our time to enjoy the ride and follow some tropical jungle trails and visit some interesting sites…
As we hop from jungle trail to jungle trail, we’ll stop at a local restaurant to satisfy some mid-afternoon food cravings and try some local dishes. And don’t worry, we’ll provide water, fruit and other local snacks as we ride along, letting our experienced guide select the day’s most interesting fare as we go along. We’ll ride back to Oakwood Hotel Residence Sukhumvit 24 approximately at 17.00 pm.
Note: We recommend wearing comfortable shoes such as sandals or sneakers. As we will be visiting a temple, modest attire must be worn to enter the premises. Tops should cover the shoulders and stomach and pants and dresses must reach below the knee.
