Stop At: Chinatown - Bangkok, Yaowarat Road Samphanthawong, Samphanthawong, Bangkok 10100 Thailand

Greet your guide at the outdoor terrace of the Shanghai Mansions hotel in Yaowarat at 4.30 p.m. and begin your gastronomic adventure in a district often considered to have the finest food in Bangkok.

First you'll whet your whistle with a dark Chinese tea that'll work wonders for your appetite before sitting down for a plate of old-style steamed shrimp noodles topped with tender pork and squid.

Located down one of Chinatown's back alleys, this tiny joint's been serving up this traditional dish for more than 50 years and is now the last place it can be found in the city.

Continue along the backstreets stopping for pan fried green chive parcels with nam jim sauce, grilled coconut chicken skewers with peanut satay and ajat relish and a refreshing pennywort juice drink to aid digestion. Don't worry, there's more to come.

Diving down an almost impossible-to-find backstreet, you'll slurp on a bowl of 'workers' noodles' topped with slices of pork and greens and then take a walk along an back alley market to discover the herbs and spices used in Thai cuisine. Make a quick stop for barbecued chicken with spicy dipping sauces before tucking into the best curry topped with Chinese cured sausage you'll eat in Bangkok.

As you begin your walk back to towards the neon strip of Yaowarat Road, you'll make pit stops for tea outside a traditional townhouse, traditional Chinese pastries and some extraordinarily good dim sum for a gentleman who's been selling them from a push along cart for more than 40 years.

Clear some room for the lemongrass infused mussels and zingy tom yum soup with prawns before finishing with Thailand's finest desserts - mango and sticky rice covered in warm coconut cream, soy sauce ice cream (tastes like salted caramel) and a freshly-fried Michelin-recommended doughnut dipped in pandan custard.

Say goodbye to your guide and fellow guests before departing from the end of Yaowarat Road.
