Stop At: Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Damnoun Saduak, Ratchaiburi, Damnoen Saduak 70130 Thailand
Meet a driver at your Bangkok hotel, then trade city streets for a landscape of salt fields and rice paddies. When you approach Damnoen Saduak Foating Market, among Thailand’s most vibrant marketplaces, board a longtail boat so you can go right into the midst of the market’s floating vendors.
After you’ve explored the unique markets, which remain one of the top attractions in this region. You’ll return to your air-conditioned coach and head towards Kanchanaburi, where the River Kwai is located. We were collected over an hour late for this trip which didn't start the day off too well. We had a really long mini bus journey of just over two hours to the floating markets with just a driver, no guide talking about Thailand. The floating markets were good fun,, very touristy and we were a bit disappointed that the boat trip around the markets wasn't included. It was about 150bht each. After this we were put on boats to travel down through the market and along a river. We were then collected and taken to a restaurant. They were good and brought extra vegetarian options for my son and husband. After this we were taken to a cemetry where just us were dropped off for 20 mins, then collected by our guide who took us to the bridge over the river kwai. we were dropped at the Jeath museum and our admission wasn't included (this was only 50bht each) and told we had an hour to go round and then an hour to walk the 100m to the bridge. There were a few cafes to go in but not much else. To be honest we could have done both in 30 mins but I appreciate that after such a long drive it wouldn't have been worth it. The whole day was a bit disappointing and I don't think I would recommend it as a trip from Bangkok. However, if you were on your way to somewhere else and were passing they would both be worth popping in to see.
