The park occupies the former grounds of Saranrom Palace, which was built in 1866 and served as the residences of several princes and royal guests. The palace gardens were converted to serve as a public park under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration in 1960

It’s the second bridge built in Bangkok to cross the mighty Chao Phraya River, connecting Phra Nakhon and Thonburi districts of the city. It was built in 1932 to commemorate 150 years of the Chakri Dynasty.

Thonburi is a vast district that consists of the entire west bank of the Chao Phraya River in Bangkok. After the sack of Ayutthaya in 1767, General Phraya Taksin made Thonburi the new capital of Siam for a brief period of time. In fact, Thonburi stayed relatively isolated from Bangkok proper, and for centuries was an agricultural land filled with canals and fruit orchards.
