Stop At: Maeklong Railway Market (Talad Rom Hub), Samut Songkhram, Samut Songkhram Province

You will join a bus tour this late morning and enjoy a comfortable drive for one and a half hour from Bangkok to Samutsongkram province. Your first stop will be the famous unusual markets, Maeklong Railway Market (also known as Rom Hub Market). It has a train running through the middle of it several times a day. Right down the middle and close enough to touch. Only in Thailand! Marvel at each seller quickly moves their wares via ingenious sets of easily-movable containers to avoid the coming train, once the train has passed it's back to business as usual.

Stop At: Amphawa Floating Market, Amphawa, Samut Songkhram Province

Continue to Amphawa Floating Market (only for weekends: Fri, Sat and Sun) for your second stop of the day. It is known locally as the city's second-most popular floating market. You'll have plenty of free time to explore the array of food, souvenirs, spices and clothes stalls that line the streets (and canals) of this unique floating bazaar. There are also some vendors on small paddle boats that cook and sell their food to visitors with a small table in front of those boats lines along the canals. Take a coffee break, eat a snack and enjoy the atmosphere.
Your local english-speaking guide take you to the pier and tell you to wait for your fireflies cruise at around 18:00 pm. When night falls, you'll get a motor boat and cruise along the canal as you will see the villagers spend their daily life by the river. Amphawa is famous for its ecological environment which attracts a large number of fireflies to live here, if you are lucky enough, you will get to see fireflies in cloudless sky, lighting up the night along the river just like stars.

This tour was a mess from start to finish. Our guide 'Call me Mr Airport' was over half an hour late picking us up. After introducing himself with his very limited English he promptly ignored us all until our first stop at the railway. We had a hot and narrow walk along the tracks with no idea when the train would start. No preliminary talk to let us know what to look for. All we were told by Mr Airport was to meet him in 45 minutes. We all managed to find our way back to him and got back into the van. Two minutes before arriving at the floating markets he told us to meet at a particular time for the boat that would take us down the river for the fireflies. He headed off at a startling pace without ever looking behind. The markets were incredibly crowded and because we were at the rear of 14 people lost sight of him . We looked for him for 15 minutes or so then gave up and went and had something to eat. I rang him 30 minutes later from the middle of the bridge where we had lost him and were told off for getting lost. With no knowledge or information from him we were hurried to a spot to meet the boat. No other people on tour had arrived at that stage. After a long boat trip and a handful of fireflies we got back into the van. 30 minutes before dropping us off Mr Airport says goidbye and gets off!!. Ten.minutes later a young.man named Elf who was assisting him gets off as well, everyone on the bus was amazed. We had all paid to have a guide for the day. We got nothing in return. All of us agreed the whole day was a fiasco. Never again!

Our driver was friendly, though he speaks poor English, he helped us a lot. Our guide Miu, she is knowledgeable and helpful. They picked us at our hotel lobby around 12:00PM. One and a half hour drive, we arrived at Maeklong railway, the train came slowly about 1:40PM. There were many tourists taking pictures of the train and the market. The train stopped at Maeklong Railway station which is the last station. The sellers offer local products at the market. Then We went to Amphawa floating market, we took a long tail boat which holds about 10 people. We tasted lot of local snacks. Local people like to go to Amphawa rather than Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. This day tour was provided by UME Travel and our consultant Carrie responded quickly to our questions.

Excellent tour. Others offer the Damnoensaduak floating market but this tour offers the must -see Amphawa floating market and Train market. Train market is the special market of Thailand. There are seven trains pass by a day. We set off at 11:30had a nice sleep and an early lunch, no need to rush and luckily saw this exciting scene. The Floating Market, only opens at weekends, few foreigners but more locals. Plenty of time to look around and taste thai food. When night falls, we had a chance to take a long tail boat to meet the fireflies. From a distance, many people think it's fake, because it looks like a Christmas tree, but when the boat is near the shore, one or two of them will fly to your side. Our guide, was very good at explanation and extremely sweet. Recommended!!!
