Sanam Luang is a multi-purpose, leisure park at the heart of Bangkok, located in the north of The Grand Palace near Chao Phraya River. Sanam Luang was formerly called Thung Phra Mane, which means the royal crematorium ground in Thai, as it was used as a location for several crematoriums of members of the royal family. Sounded unpleasantly somehow, King Rama IV renamed this 78-rai space as Sanam Luang, which means the royal ground in Thai, along with planting 365 tamarind trees around the park during his reign.

Stop At: The National Museum Bangkok, Na Phrathat Road Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakho, Bangkok 10200 Thailand

The first Thailand museum was set up in the reign of His Majesty King Mongkut, King Rama IV as the royal private museum in the Grand Palace. In the reign of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn, King Rama V, he ordered to establish the museum inside the Grand Palace that was open to the public for the first time and was marked as the birth of the first Thailand National Museum. In 1887, King Rama V ordered to move the museum to the front palace, and subsequently developed into the Bangkok National Museum nowadays. Bangkok National Museum is the first National Museum in Thailand, established in 1859 to exhibit and showcase Thailand history, Art history, Archaeology and Ethnology.

Silpa Bhirasri Memorial National Museum is located at Phrathat Road, opposite Sanam Luang. It was established to commemorate Professor Silpa Bhirasri who was honored as the father of modern art in Thailand.

The Hall of Sculpture is in the Fine Arts Department building next to Silpakorn University opposite Sanam Luang. The hall contains sculptures by famous national Thai artists including Professor Silpa Bhirasri who was the pioneer of contemporary Thai art education.

Tha Chang Pier, or well known in Thai Tha Chang Wang Luang, with designated pier code N9 is pier on Chao Phraya River located on the end of Na Phra Lan Road in the area behind Grand Palace next to Nagaraphirom Park and Ratchaworadit Pier.

Wat Rakhang Kositaram Woramahawihan known as Temple of the Bells or Wat LuangPhorToh is located at 250, Siriratch sub-district, Bangkok Noi district in Bangkok. The temple is a royal temple of the second grade of Woramahawiharn in Thai sect of Theravada Buddhism district 1.

Wang Lang Market covers a huge area on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River and is well known to Bangkokians due its proximity to Siriaj Hospital. The market has its own pier, Wang Lang Pier, so you can take a boat straight there.

Stop At: Wat Mahathat Yuwaratrangsarit, 3, Na Phra That Road Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Phra Nakhon, Bangkok 10200 Thailand

Wat Mahathat Yuwarat Rangsarit, this is one of Bangkok’s oldest royal temples built during the Ayutthaya Kingdom. It sits between the Grand Palace and the Palace of prince viceroys. The temple was known by other name, while the current name, Wat Mahathat, was given by Rama I in 1803 when it became the residence of the chief monk and the Buddha’s relics, inspired by the temple of its kind in Ayutthaya Kingdom.

Thammasat University (TU), apart from being the second oldest, is also one of Thailand’s best known and respected universities. Officially established on 27 June 1934, the University was initially named by Prof. Dr. Pridi Banomyong:‘The University of Ethics and Politics.' It began as an open university, with 7,094 students enrolled in its first academic year. The University’s main purpose upon its founding was “to teach students to love and cherish democracy.”
