Day 1: Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Lopburi – Sakaekrang River – Uthai Thani

Bangkok – Ayutthaya – Lopburi – Sakaekrang River – Uthai Thani

Depart from Bangkok in the morning and drive to Ayutthaya. Our first stop is at Bang Pa In, the former summer residence of the Kings of Ayutthaya built in the 18th century. There you will visit the Royal Palace, the Thai pavilion, the Chinese-style Palace Vihat Chamrun with their bushes are trimmed in the shape of elephants. Continue through Ayutthaya, the former capital of Siam from 1350 to 1767; and visit the most interesting temples: Wat Yai Chai Mongkol and Wat Phra Srisanpetch. Proceed to Lopburi and visit Phra Prang Sam Yod, a temple with three towers and impressive ornaments as well as the shrine of the Hindu Goddess Kali at the Sarn Prakarn Temple. After lunch, continue to Singburi and visit the Reclining Buddha. Then drive to Uthai Thani and visit Wat Thasung. Later in the afternoon, travel to the Sakaekrung River in the rice barge “Khiri Nava”. Finally visit the colourful markets of Uthai Thani.

Day 2: Uthai Thani – Hub Patad – Kamphaengphet – Sukhothai

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel. Get on a journey to Hub Patad Valley. Surrounded by old limestone mountains, the hidden forest of rare big palm trees seems to have been taken from “Jurassic Park”. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant, and continue to Kamphaengphet to visit the waterfalls of Klonglan National Park. Later visit Wat Pra Kaew, a large royal temple which is often used on important city events. Head to Sukhothai which was the first capital city of Siam. Founded in the 13th century by the King Ramkhamhaeng, the city offers today some still very well preserved and some restored temples and palaces. The beauty and interest of this fabulous historical site has logically been recognised as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991.

Day 3: Sukhothai – Phitsanulok Start the day

Sukhothai – Phitsanulok

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel. Visit the magnificent historical park of Sukhothai, with its well preserved ruins of the Royal Palace and the Royal temples. Wat Mahatat is one of these and Sukothai’s largest temple, decorated with a customary main stupa in lotus-bud shape and a Buddha image hall. We will continue and drive outside the old city wall to visit more temples, such as the stunning Wat Sichum. There stands a huge monumental stucco-over-brick Buddha image.

After lunch, visit Sri Satchanalai, the former sister town of Sukhothai and stay there for lunch. Continue to Phitsanuloke to visit the beautiful Wat Maha Dhat: this temple is the most famous in the province as it houses the most revered Buddha figures in Thailand. The site is also well known for its golden shrine and the overall complex around is a very good representation of ancient religious Thai architecture.

Day 4: Phitsanulok – Suphanburi – Kanchanaburi

Stop At: City Pillar Shrine, SuphanBuri, Malai Maen Road, Tambon Rua Yai, Amphoe Muang, Suphan Buri 72000 Thailand

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Kanchanaburi, stopping at Suphanburi along the way to make a visit to Wat Pa Laelai. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Resume the drive to Kanchanaburi to visit the famous bridge over River Kwai. You will also visit the well-kept War Cemetery of Allied Prisoners, which contains the graves of an estimated 9,000 Allied soldiers and the Allied War Cemetery. These soldiers died while building the bridge and the notorious "Death Railway” which the Japanese had hoped to stretch all the way to the Burmese border. Check-in at your hotel and the rest of the day is free.

Day 5: Kanchanaburi – Erawan Waterfalls – River Kwai Jungle Raft

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, get closer to the past, and pay a visit to the JEATH Museum (the name “JEATH” is derived from Japan, England, America/Australia, Thailand and Holland), where the past has been created and relived with pictures and artefacts out of this time. Then take a historic ride on the Death Railway Train, passing through lush forest areas.

After lunch, visit Erawan Waterfall National Park, the site of the seven-tiered Erawan waterfall, and one of Thailand’s most beautiful waterfalls. The second tier has a pool, which is particularly picturesque and ideal for a swim. Later in the day, get on a long-tail boat to transfer from the pier to the River Kwai Jungle Rafts. You will notice the unspoiled mountainous jungle scenery along the river. End the day with dinner and a 45-minute presentation of Mon dances.

Day 6: River Kwai – Bangkok

Start the day with breakfast at the hotel. Check out from the accommodation and depart by a long-tail boat to pier and continue to visit the Hellfire Pass Memorial. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. Arrive in Bangkok in the late afternoon and get dropped off at your hotel in Bangkok.
