About this activity

Enjoy a brand new perspective on Salvador Dalí and discover the most remote landscapes of the Costa Brava on this alternative tour through the life and works of the Catalan genius.

The expert local guide will pick you up in a comfortable minivan at your Barcelona accommodation and take you on a personalized tour through the idyllic landscapes of the Costa Brava. This exciting excursion will open your eyes to the mysteries of the famous Catalan painter, Salvador Dalí.

First, you will head to Figueres, a small town near the border of France. As Dalí’s hometown, Figueres is one of the three points that make up the so-called 'Dalí triangle'. Stroll through the streets and corners that marked his formative years and discover the artist’s favorite places.

Next, you will visit the Dalí Theatre-Museum, designed by Dalí on the ruins of the old municipal theater and considered the largest work of Surrealist art in the world. Dive deep into Dalí’s peculiar mind! The museum is home to a comprehensive collection of the strangest artifacts you have probably ever seen. Ask yourself: What other museum is studded with plaster-covered croissants?

The tour will continue to the second link in the Dalí triangle, the Gala-Dalí Castle in Púbol. The artist chose this magnificent medieval structure as his canvas and created a place of refuge for his beloved Gala. After the Gothic-Renaissance palace was carefully restored, Dalí began to furnish it personally. He also designed the mausoleum crypt where his wife and muse is now buried, located inside the castle.

After taking a break to admire this romantic gesture of love, we will continue to the Platja del Castell. This quaint cove is set in a beautiful natural environment, remaining untouched by human development for thousands of years. The shimmering sandy beach is surrounded by pine forests, completely natural with no buildings in sight. The nearby mansion Mas Juny has hosted countless parties since the 1920´s, attracting international artists and actors, including Dalí himself.

Also nearby, we will discover one of Dalí’s greatest secrets, a small workshop called 'la barraca de Dalí'. The slanted doors of the building reveal an authentic Surrealist touch.

End the day with a refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by a scenic landscape that has inspired many.
