Discover Barcelona's art scene: Studio visit Stefanie Herr
Stefanie Herr opens the doors to her home studio in the middle of the Barrio Gótico for you. Catch a glimpse of the artist's unique way to reflect her concerns about contemporary issues and experience Barcelona's vibrant art scene first hand. The studio is usually not open to the public, so you will get exclusive access to a private space in Barcelona and connect with an interesting local person.
About Stefanie Herr's Art:
Stefanie dissolves the traditional boundaries between photography and sculpture in her work. Photography abandones the two-dimensional plane and sets out to conquer the space. Shapes – whether borrowed from topographic maps, stock charts or any other graphical representation of data – are dissociated from their original context and acquire new meanings. This hybridization of media enables her to reflect on the way we relate to the natural environment in today’s dislocated consumer society.

The artist will give you a brief resume of her CV, then sit down with you to comment some of her art work one by one: Her technique, her inspiration, her work process. You will comment 4-10 of her works and of course you are welcome to ask questions regarding the pieces, but there will also be time for question and answers at the end of the visit.
Stefanie is originally from Germany but lives and works in Barcelona for years. She can give you a glimpse into the life of a contemporary artist in city of Gaudí and Picasso. Artists are often the collective that picks up the pulse of the time first and can give you insight about socio-cultural aspects of the place you are visiting. Take advantage of that and get to know a different face of the city.
