"Dürer exhibition, master of the Renaissance" tickets
"Dürer, master of the Renaissance" is a complete exhibition about the most important German artist in history. This is an ambitious museographic proposal: an exhibition distributed simultaneously in three of the most relevant cultural institutions of the city: the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona, the cathedral and the Diocesan Museum of Barcelona.
The exhibition includes a selection of engravings, a technique from which Dürer became the great master from the Renaissance until today, and which highlight his mastery and his search for absolute beauty. Among the exhibits, you find the Great Triumphal Car of Maximilian I, Melancholy or The Knight, Death and the Devil.
The exhibition establishes a dialogue with Barcelona by recognizing the preservation of the cathedral choir, which was reformed 500 years ago by some of the best European masters of the time, and the influence Dürer has exerted to this day, as in the work of Subirachs that he makes for the Sagrada Familia.
Through the figure of Dürer, the exhibition recalls the cultural ties that had been established between Barcelona and Germany during the artist's time. Ties that are also evident in the exhibition, since it has the collaboration of the Albrecht Dürer Haus Museum of Nüremeberg and the Fugger und Welser Erlebnismuseum of Augsburg.
