The tour begins at 8:15 AM. Just a few kilometers away driving to the north in a air-conditioned and comfortable vehicle and in about an hour you will be in the sacred monastery of Montserrat surrounded by a majestic rocky landscape that will leave you spechless.
Montserrat transmits peace and tranquility mixed with large doses of adventure and mystery.
Visit the monastic centre of Catalunya, home of the famous Lady of Montserrat, popularly known as La Moreneta (the Dark One), due to the dark color of her skin. La Moreneta is a truly beautiful 12th century Romanesque polychrome carving with a baby Jesus on Her lap.
Afterwards we give you the opportunity to take the funicular and reach the top of the mountain (over 3,000ft). We suggest you to discover the paths less walked of the magnificent Montserrat and uncover the secrets of the most impressive parts of this rock formation. We will see the sanctuary from above, which has been in use for almost 1000 years for pilgrims, who have climbed this spectacular mountain. In addition, If you wish we invite you to discover (15min walkng) an old hermitage where pilgrims retreated. Riding the funicular is an own expense optional that amounts to 15€.
At 1pm on weekdays (12am in the weekends) there is the opportunity to hear one of Europe’s nicest children’s choirs. "Escolania" is comprised of more than fifty boys, from nine to fourteen years old, who come from all over Catalonia to take part in daily prayer at the Sanctuary.

This tour was excellent! Montserrat is a must -see if you are in Barcelona. My tour guide Barbara was absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable and the best!
The tour was a mess from the start; the driver couldn't find the keys to the minivan (that 8 of us were riding in). After an hour or so of driving, the driver/tour guide realized he was lost. The tour itself was very amateur-ish. The tour that was supposed to end at 2pm, ended at 5pm due to the errors by the tour guide (kind of reminds me of Gilligan and the 3 hour tour). Such poor planning and execution is unacceptable. No apologies from Viator, of course.
